What is a Community Architect?

To Gilfillan Callahan Nelson Architects, "community" represents a group of people--neighbors, merchants, professionals, service providers, clergy and others--who are bound geographically and focused on the common good. Communities bring about a sense of belonging and pride to its members who work collectively to identify problems and develop solutions. Communities staff and maintain the schools that teach our children. They provide the police stations that protect our property and ensure our personal safety. They erect the libraries from which we obtain information and share thoughts and ideas. They create the park district facilities that provide for our recreation. They build village halls for us to meet and interact.

Gilfillan Callahan Nelson Architects takes enormous pride in master planning and designing the community structures that enhance this sense of belonging and life experience. The greatest benefit is in knowing that the structures we design today will become the legacies that we leave behind for the generations to come.
