Edward Hospital Fertility Clinic
'Create an Embryo-Friendly Environment'
Gilfillan Callahan Nelson Architects is all about building communities, and the opportunity to design a state-of-the-art fertility clinic at Edward Hospital in Naperville provided us the chance to prove it.
This type of laboratory is among the most challenging healthcare facilities to design--particularly given the precise details that must all work together to create an environment to help induce the spark of life.
The project was managed by Gilfillan Callahan Nelson Architects' business principal Nikki Bridges, who conducted extensive pre-planning research into all facets of the project before she even started the design process. The project called for new construction upon Edward Hospital's existing 236-bed hospital complex. Of particular attention for this clinic was the need for quality air control. With the help of HVAC consultants, a special ductwork system that completely isolated air from outside influences (including particle contamination) was designed especially for this facility.
