Green Hills Public Library sought Gilfillan Callahan Nelson Architects' help with its space needs when the Palos Hills-based library began to experience cramped quarters. Architects responded with a thorough analysis, along with their recommendations for improving the facility.
Green Hills Public Library Trustees would later approve a 15,000 square-foot expansion project to add 2,500 square feet of new space to its ground floor, 4,400 square feet to its first floor, and 8,200 square feet to its second floor. The project introduced new amenities to its Adult Section--including a "Three Seasons"
reading room that overlooks a functional green roof, and a fireplace. The Children's Section also benefited from new feature, including a giant fish tank, a separate playroom, and colorful, Dr. Suess hand-painted imagery throughout. |
